Youth Workshops

Highpoint partners with children, families, and community groups, offering hands-on printmaking classes that inspire and instruct. Youth Workshops are planned to fit busy schedules, provide high-quality art education experiences, introduce young artists to accessible local programs & organizations and to provide diverse learning opportunities to our visitors.

    Feed your creative appetite with five days at five art organizations. Become a master artist as you learn exciting art-making techniques from professional artists. Each session will focus on a different theme:

    Session 1: Nature June 21–25, 9 am–3 pm, ages 9 and up
    Create a variety of masterpieces with a twist on using natural materials and learning how nature impacts art.
    Session 2: Green & Recycling August 9–13, 9 am–3 pm, ages 11–14
    Create a variety of masterpieces with a twist on using recycled materials.
    Session 3: Travel & Culture August 16–20, 9 am–3 pm, ages 9 and up
    Create a variety of masterpieces related to world travel, learning and experience different cultures.

    Partners include Highpoint Center for Printmaking, IFP MN Center for Media Arts, Textile Center, Minnesota Center for Book Arts, and Northern Clay Center. Please register through Northern Clay Center. All organizations will honor NCC’s cancellation policy.

    Culture Camp 2010

    Dates: Monday–Friday, August 2–6; 9 am–3 pm
    Ages: 7–11
    Cost: $260 ($235 members of any of the five host organizations)

    Spend a day each at five diverse visual and cultural arts organizations: Minnesota Center for Book Arts, the Children’s Theatre Company, the Walker Art Center, Highpoint Center for Printmaking and Zenon Dance Company. Work with artists at each site to create hands-on projects, performances, and more! Friends and family are invited to a presentation at each location each day at 2:30. Participants must provide their own transportation to each institution and bring a bag lunch each day. Limited scholarships available.
