Every year, Highpoint partners with dozens of area schools to share the fun of printmaking with Minnesota’s youth. Student visitors range in age from 8–18 and represent diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. In a typical school partnership, up to 25 students visit HP as a group and spend several hours learning about and creating prints. Monotype, drypoint, and relief printmaking are techniques of choice for these classes because of their immediacy and simplicity—with these methods, anyone can produce several prints in just an hour or two. The whole partnership can involve a single visit by the school, wherein the students concentrate on one type of print; or the school can visit Highpoint many times, enabling more students to try printmaking, or one group to sample a variety of print techniques.
