TWENTY, the 2011 Winter Cooperative Exhibition marks a milestone for Highpoint and our Printshop Cooperative. We are very proud to present the 20th Cooperative Exhibition, celebrating 10 years of semi-annual exhibitions. Our opening reception will feature a holiday sale, refreshments and merriment celebrating this community accomplishment. Join us for special discounts on prints at the free opening reception.

  • Highpoint will be hosting a poetry slam with Punch Out Poetry, a female spoken word contingent, on February 14 as part of our TWOxTUE series.
  • Join us February 11 for National Inventor’s Day to experiment with different printmaking techniques and concoct one-of-a-kind prints to take home.

Upcoming Classes:

  • Screenprinting: The Basics And Beyond with Jeremy Lund
    The class will guide you through the hands-on, step-by-step process of making screenprints. March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 & April 5
  • Intro To Photolithography with Kit Leffler
    During this six-week course students will be introduced to the versatile, montage abilities of photolithography, combining hand-drawn, text, and photographic elements. Students will develop an understanding of the application and creation of halftone during digital image editing, while progressing into the application of color and registration in their print process. April 19, 26 & May 3, 10, 17, 24
  • Polyester Plate Lithography with Zac Adams-Bliss & Megan Anderson
    Learn lithographic drawing techniques, inking procedures, multicolor registration, and how to pull a lithograph on an etching press. This process is suitable for both seasoned printmakers and beginners. June 1 – 3
  • Monoprinting Madness! with Johanna Winters
    Come one, come all! Get your hands inky in Highpoint’s classroom studio for a monoprinting party! This one-day workshop will focus on monoprints, a direct and immediate form of printmaking that allows for spontaneity and experimentation without using harsh solvents or chemical processes. March 24
  • Playdate At The Press: A Family Day At Highpoint
    Take home a family-sized serving of one-of-a-kind monoprints! You, your family and friends will learn how to create colorful monoprints using different inking techniques, and how to operate an etching press. April 14
  • Tool Sharpening Workshop with Paul Linden
    This workshop will demonstrate sharpening techniques for various carving tools frequently used by printmakers from V-gouges, U-gouges, knives, & scrapers. April 21

at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts:

Highpoint Editions – Decade One

Highpoint Center for Printmaking is very proud to announce the Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA) will be hosting an exhibition of prints created during Highpoint’s first ten years (2001 – 2011). The show, Highpoint Editions – Decade One, will open on Saturday September 24 at the MIA and run through June 10, 2012. Thomas Rassieur, the John E. Andrus III Curator of Prints and Drawings at MIA, will curate the exhibition.
