Free Ink Day: Stencil Monotype Printmaking!
February 7th, 12–4 PM at Highpoint

Love notes have long been shared through handmade paper; from Victorian era valentines layered with lace and gold, to Koibumi, traditional Japanese love letters exchanged through poetry, calligraphy, and carefully chosen materials. Print has been a vessel to express devotion, memory, protest, and care for centuries. This Valentine themed Free Ink Day invites you to take part in that tradition while reimagining what a love note can be.

Join us for a fun, free afternoon of stencil monotype printmaking at Highpoint. Drop in anytime between 12–4 PM to create a card or print using paper, ink, and found objects. We will have doilies, gold ink, floral stencils, and other love themed materials to help you build layered, textured designs perfect for a valentine, a thank you, or a visual love letter to something you cherish.

What is a stencil monotype?
Participants cut paper stencils and arrange found objects to build an image. After inking the stencils and placing them on a plexiglass plate, the design is run through an etching press to create a layered print.

This event is free and open to all ages and experience levels. Materials are provided, and volunteers will be on hand to guide you through the process. Come slow down, make by hand, and explore love in all its forms romantic, platonic, communal, nostalgic, or entirely your own.

Parking and Access:
Enter by walking through Highpoint’s Lake Street entrance or via the driveway off Colfax. Street parking is available, or visitors are encouraged to bike, walk, or take public transit. There will be limited space available in Highpoint’s parking lot. This event will take place in Highpoint’s classroom and co-op.
