At Highpoint, we often ask this central question: Why Printmaking Now? In a world that feels increasingly fast and fleeting, what does it mean to gather around ink, paper, and a press?
Printmaking has always been a democratizing art form—born from the need to share ideas widely and make images accessible to many. From the earliest woodcuts to contemporary editions, prints have carried the stories, struggles, and dreams of artists and communities alike. They have shaped movements, amplified voices, and built bridges between makers and audiences.
Since 2001, Highpoint has been a unique art center in Minnesota where visitors, artists, students, collectors, and the community can come together to create, develop skills, and learn about printmaking. Artists come to Highpoint to create and to connect. They gather to share perspectives, be in community, and leave their mark.
This year, our campaign Why Printmaking Now? invites you to reflect on print’s perennial importance and to help us ensure its future.
