Skill Level: This class is intended for intermediate to advanced printmakers who wish to expand their print practice.
Photolithography is a versatile printmaking process utilizing an array of mark-making applications from hand-drawn to lens-based and digital imagery. This class will focus mostly on hand-created imagery though digital techniques will be addressed. The course will consist of lectures, multiple demonstrations, and in-class work time. We will focus on image development, registration methods, material experimentation for film creation, layering, color theory, ink mixing and modification, proper paper preparation and handling, printing strategies, on-press problem solving, and professional curation and signing practices. By the end of the course, participants will create a professionally printed, three-color, three run photolithograph in an edition of five.
