Hot Off the Press 2009

Summer Cooperative Exhibition

On View: July 31, 2009 – September 19, 2009
Friday, July 31, 2009 from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Highpoint Center for Printmaking is pleased to present Hot Off the Press, an exhibition of prints by members of its community printshop cooperative. Original lithographs, relief prints, intaglio and screenprints will be on view and available for purchase July 31–September 19. The public is invited to an opening reception on Friday, July 31 from 6:30–9 PM. This informal event will offer visitors an opportunity to meet participating artists and experience the Co-op’s new, improved printshop facility at 912 Lake Street West. The reception is free; beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Hot Off the Press features work by twenty-one local printmakers with a broad range of experience and interests. For some, printmaking is an avocation; others create prints professionally and have placed works in museums, businesses and private collections across the country. Working at Highpoint provides the artists with access to a state-of-the-art printmaking facility, the chance to exhibit and sell work at semi-annual shows and the opportunity to work alongside fellow printmakers in a supportive workshop setting. Highpoint is currently raising funds to support the renovation of its new permanent home at 912 Lake Street West in Minneapolis. As of July 2009, the Campaign has raised $2,570,700 towards its final goal of $3.5M. Highpoint Center for Printmaking is a non-profit art center dedicated to advancing the appreciation and understanding of the printmaking arts. We offer educational programming for children and adults, a studio cooperative, professional publishing opportunities and a street-level gallery featuring contemporary prints. No other printmaking center in the Upper Midwest provides such a wide range of public access and programs.
