Delve into the world of reductive techniques in screenprinting during this dynamic two-day, 6-hour workshop. Learn the art of reverse thinking as you organize multiple layers to craft a vibrant and distinctive print. Draw inspiration from your photographs or illustrations.

The workshop will feature hands-on demonstrations covering color mixing, stage development, and registration. By the end of the two days, participants can anticipate completing either a 5-layer edition of 10 prints or two 3-layer prints. This workshop is designed for intermediate-level participants, and prior familiarity with screenprinting is recommended.

About the Instructor: Lila is a printmaker based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Working in printmaking, painting, and quilting, her practice pays particular attention to the shift between objects and patterns related to memory.

Currently, this work is wrestling with the problems (and possibilities) that arise from unreliable personal narratives. Her painting background has greatly influenced her printing process and is reflected in the handling of the pigment and in the joy of color relationships within each piece.

Shull holds her MFA from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and a BFA from Winthrop University, Rock Hill SC. She has been awarded residencies at In Cahoots, Arrowmont School of Crafts and Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, Poland. Her work has been shown nationally at the Foley and Unix Galleries in New York City, Coagula Curatorial in Los Angeles, CA, Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC, and the Devos Art Museum in Marquette, MI.
