Carlos Amorales

Carlos Amorales

Based in Mexico City, Amorales embraces a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to creating his art. Through painting, performance, animation and design, he samples from his Liquid Archive, a digital collection of black-silhouetted images extracted from observations of nature and urban scenes, which depicts everything from birds and wolves to airplanes and digitized paint drips. Amorales cultivates the replication and reconfiguration of his archive through collaborations with composers, animators, designers, and other artists. While working with Highpoint Editions, this strategy led to the production of wonderful prints.

The artist has had many solo exhibitions, including Museo Amparo (Puebla, Mexico), Cincinnati Art Center, Orange County Museum, Philadelphia Art Museum, MALBA (Buenos Aires), and the Tate Modern. Amorales represented Mexico at the 2017 Venice Biennale.
Amorales is represented by Yvon Lambert Gallery.
