Highpoint’s Artists’ Cooperative reopens!

Due to the health and safety of our staff and members being our top priority, Highpoint’s Artist Cooperative closed temporarily on March 16 in accordance with public health recommendations surrounding COVID-19.

As of July 6, the co-op has reopened! We’ve instituted a number of new safety measures that will ensure the health and wellness of our members. Notably:

  • Social distancing: Work tables have been spread out to maximize between members while they work.

  • Scheduling: Members are now required to schedule their access in order to limit the number of co-op users at all times.

  • Cleanliness: Disinfectant, paper towels, and hand sanitizer are available throughout the co-op. Cleaning has been altered to include regular disinfecting of high touch surface areas within the co-op and throughout the entire building.

  • Check-in: All visitors, including co-op members and HP staff, must take their temperature and sign in and record their temperature whenever they enter or leave HP.

  • Agreement: Finally, all co-op members must read and agree to the terms set forth in our Covid-19 Workspace User Agreement, a document that outlines our preparedness as well as what is expected of members who use the space.

Since reopening, we’ve been pleased to see that co-op membership is more robust than anticipated and continues to grow! Co-op members are excited to be back in the space, and have been able to resume their printmaking practices quite easily.

We’re thrilled that we’re able to continue providing our artists with a space to make prints, while retaining our commitment to keeping folks healthy. By catering to our co-op members’ need to create, we hope to provide some degree of normalcy and positive stimulation as members navigate this difficult time. Making art is good for our individual and collective mental health, especially during times like this. We’re so glad to have them back!
