The Jerome Emerging Printmakers Residency, was created in spring 2003 with a generous grant from the Jerome Foundation, to provide a venue for selected emerging artists to further their exploration of the printmaking arts. Susannah, Colin, and Sara were the first recipients of this opportunity at Highpoint.
Susannah Bielak’s current work is about her personal experiences living at a busy intersection of Uptown Minneapolis, and is informed by her observations and interactions with the elements of the street. She is a 1998 BFA graduate of Macalester College, and has recently exhibited works at Soo Visual Arts Center, Radiator Gallery, and Intermedia Arts, all located in Minneapolis.
Colin Gatling creates large murals and installations that show a play of shape and space through hard-edged abstraction. A 2001 BFA graduate of Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and has been the recipient of a 2002 MN State Arts Board Artist Fellowship Grant. He has recently shown work in a group show at Soo Visual Arts Center, Minneapolis.
Sara Langworthy’s recent works show a deep interest in the exploration of layering and texture through an unusual and intriguing combination of painting, drawing, and printmaking processes. In 2001, she completed graduate studies in Book Arts at the University of Iowa, and has taught classes in Minnesota, Iowa, and North Carolina. She has had her work exhibited nationwide.
