Celebrate Valentine's Day with a creative date night or a fun outing with a friend! In this playful workshop, you'll create a series of colorful stencil monotype portraits inspired by someone you love.

Using paper stencils, you'll build a portrait by layering shapes and colors with printmaking ink on a plexiglass plate before running each print through a printing press. The result is a monotype print that captures your subject in a vibrant, graphic style.

To make the evening even more festive, Highpoint will provide complimentary champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a Valentine's-themed photo booth to capture the memories. Whether you're celebrating with a partner or friend, this workshop is a fun, creative way to make art and enjoy the holiday together.

About the instructor: Josh (he/him) joined the Highpoint team in 2012. As Highpoint has grown and evolved, so has his role within the organization. He stewards HP’s artist support programs including the McKnight Printmaking Fellowship, the Jerome Early Career Printmakers Residency, The Full Color Print Program, and the artists’ cooperative printshop. He co-coordinates Highpoint’s exhibition program, and oversees the building and facilities. Outside of HP, Josh’s passions vary widely with dogs topping the list followed in no particular order by gardening, the outdoors, the NFL, golf, music, movies, memes, podcasts, and making things.

REGISTRATION DETAILS
Registration and payment may be completed through this website. You will receive an introductory email the week of your workshop from your instructor.

WORKSHOP TRANSFERS, CANCELLATIONS, & REFUNDS

Our workshops are intentionally small to ensure each participant receives personalized instruction and access to Highpoint's studios and equipment. Because we commit to our teaching artists and prepare materials in advance, cancellations can have a significant impact on our ability to run a workshop.

If you need to make a change to your registration, please contact Jo Johannsen at jo@highpointprintmaking.org or call 612-278-4162.

TRANSFERS

If you're no longer able to attend, we encourage you to transfer your registration whenever possible.

  • Transfer to another workshop: You may transfer your registration to another Highpoint workshop up to 7 days before your workshop, subject to availability. If the new workshop has a different tuition rate, you will be responsible for paying the difference or will receive a refund for the difference, if applicable.

  • Transfer to another person: If you're unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to a friend or family member at any time at no additional charge. Please email Jo with the new participant's name and email address before the workshop begins.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

  • 7 or more days before your workshop: Receive a full refund of your tuition and materials fees, less a $25 processing fee.

  • Less than 7 days before your workshop: Refunds are not available. However, you may transfer your registration to another person as described above.

The $25 processing fee is waived if Highpoint cancels the workshop.

WORKSHOP CANCELLATIONS BY HIGHPOINT

Occasionally, a workshop may need to be canceled due to insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, or inclement weather. If Highpoint cancels a workshop, you will receive a full refund, including all tuition, materials fees, and any processing fees.

Thank you for your understanding and support. These policies help us continue offering high-quality workshops while supporting our teaching artists and maintaining our small class sizes.
