Adebunmi Gbadebo Works Acquired by the Block Museum of Art

Recently, the annual Collection Council at the Block Museum of Art at Northwestern University in Chicago acquired multiple works from Highpoint Editions Artist, Adebunmi Gbadebo! Working with materials such as soil and indigo, periwinkle, hair and clay, each work offers multiple points of entry into Gbadebo’s practice and create opportunities for teaching and research across various areas of study.

Throughout the academic year, Council members participate in a collaborative process of learning, research, and discussion with artists and curators.  Working within the year’s theme of abstraction, the Council considered a shortlist of artists nominated by members and The Block’s curatorial team before reaching consensus on Gbadebo’s work titled Many Mornings Later and recommending it to the museum’s Acquisitions Committee, where it will join her recently released collaborative print, Periwinkle.
